Cook | Homemade Apple Cider

You have to try this! We had a bunch of apples and I thought it would be a fun idea to try to make our own apple cider fall treat! Not only was it super easy, but it made our whole apartment smell amazing!

Here's the ingredients:

• 10 apples, we used all the same kind, but you can use a variety of types
• 1 orange
• Half a cup of brown sugar
• 5 cinnamon sticks
• 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
• 1 Tbsp. whole cloves
• 1 tsp. allspice (whole)
• Water

Here's how we made it:

After chopping up the apples and orange we put all the ingredients into a large cooking pot on the stove. We filled the pot with water covering the ingredients. We then brought the mixture to a boil for about 45 min. After that we let it simmer for about 3 hours. After it has cooled, use cheesecloth strain the cider into a large bowl to filter out the spices and solid pieces of apples and the orange. Our batch filled two 1qt mason jars. You can make more by using a larger pot and extra water...note that by adding more water it will dilute your cider.

When finished, serve hot with a side of pumpkin pie! Yum.
